A 46-year-old Hilo man was returned to jail while an investigation into possible burglary charges against him continues.
On Sept. 11, the Kehaulani Street home of a 91-year-old Hilo woman was broken into and numerous items were taken, police said.
Michael Wayne Ortiz was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of the burglary at Hawaii Community Correctional Center, where he was in custody on unrelated charges.
Ortiz was taken to the Hilo police cellblock, but released back to HCCC without being charged Thursday pending further investigation.
